Using the topical environment theme, The Last Buffalo
transports the audience to the starkly beautiful area known
as the Alberta Badlands. In 3D you are literally surrounded
by wild animals - from an eagle flying over your head to a
mountain lion jumping into your lap. During the dramatic hunt
of a hungry mountain lion, you are caught in the middle of
a buffalo stampede.
Most of
us will never have the opportunity to see a buffalo calf,
moments after its birth, take its first shaky-legged steps.
Nor will many of us ever see a violent showdown between a
cougar and its fiercely defiant prey -- or even a bush fire,
up close. In The Last Buffalo we see all that and
more, and in the most breathtaking detail.
Also witness
a brilliant sculptor at work, creating a life-sized buffalo
from molten iron. Bill Lishman's wildlife sculptures are prized
for their faithfulness to the spirit, the essence of his subjects
as well as to their precise physical outlines. But The
Last Buffalo reminds that even a talent like Lishman's
is limited to image. Only nature, left alone, can propagate
the living forms to which artists through the centuries have
paid homage.
